Acid Rain

When fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas are burned, carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and sulfuric dioxide escape into the air. These molecules dissolve in the water in the clouds and make the rainwater more acidic than normal. When this happens, it is called acid ain

Causes of acid rain
Acid rain is caused by a chemical reaction that begins when compounds like sulfur dioxide the nitrogen oxide are released into the air.

Effect of acid rain
Effects of acid rain are mostly seen in aquatic environments, such as streams, lakes, and marshes where it can be harmful to fish and other wildlife.
