Blog 11 - Emulation project

why did you choose these images? I choose this image because its similar to my kaupapa and the contrast of the colours

How have you emulated your artist? I choose Rinko to emulate because she has soft photos and great contrast of the colour and the edit of the photos

I choose Rinko Kawauchi as my photographer's inspiration

Blog post 9

Blog post nine: Looking at daguerreotypes and faking a darkroom - analogue practices in a digital world.

 Reflect -

why would this be useful in your work? It could be useful by trying to add edited photos to the panels

What mood or feeling does this kind of editing create? It gives the feel of a dark vintage and old type of photo.

How can you develop from here? To make this try to match my theme and just make it soft

Alexander the great

In classic, we're talking about Alexander the Great.

Keywords:

-Ambitious

-Heroes

-Ascended

-Military

-Philosophy

Alexander the Great was born in Macedonia 356BC, Died 323BC ( Age 32 ). He ascended to the Macedonia throne in 336BC after the murder of his father Phillip II. Also, he is considered at the same time because he was one of the greatest in the military. He was very sentimental; he named 20 cities after himself, one after his horse.

Space and balance: In the picture, it got divided by the leading line which is on the front there's grass and on the other side it's tall trees.
Space and balance: In this photo, it divides by the leading line. At the back, there's white snow and grass. At the front, there's a plate of circle and mandarin.

Space and balance: There are a lot of spaces in this photo. The part of the water. The leading line makes them separate.

 Forest

ORIGINAL

Forest.edit1

used: Levels and Curves

Forest.edit2

used: Levels, Curves and Photo filter ( 40 )

Forest.edit3

used: Levels, Curves and Hue/Saturation.

Critique and analyse with your peers what looks best:

The first image is definitely the best looking among the bunch. Compared to edit number 2, the white balance is on point.

Compare to the original and make notes:

Comparing the original photo to these 2 edits makes it different and for the 3 it looks washed out by white and less colour to pop out.

Nature

ORIGINAL

Nature.edit1

Nature.edit2

Nature.edit3

used: Levels, Curves and Hue/Saturation.

Critique and analyse with your peers what looks best:

The first photo is the best-looking edited photo. This is because the image has more contrast and details of the trees and the river in the photo. Compared to the two photos, the first one also has a balance in both highlights and shadows.

Compare to the original and make notes.

The original photo is just like photo 1 but without the edit. The edit makes it stand out.

Duck

Duck.edit2

Duck.edit3

used: Levels, Curves and Hue/Saturation.

Critique and analyse with your peers what looks best:

The first edit is also the best in these photographs. It has the most contrast and the most balanced among the two images. The last image looks too washed out.

Compare to the original and make notes.

The original photo is just basic but when I edit them it makes it stand out more.

pompeii

The book that I read about Pompeii, has this disaster that happened when Vesuvius erupted. Several towns had disappeared including Herculaneum, Pompeii, Stabiae, Oplontis, and Taurania. Where Pompeii had once stood only the tops of the buildings still standing rose above the ashes.

There was ash on top of the houses after the eruption

Greek Mythology

This book of Greek Mythology, it talks about the Theogony. Around 700 BC, Chaos was born the black night and Erebus, who in their turn brought into the world Aether, the light of heaven, and day.

The fruit of the union of Earth (Ge) and Heaven (Uranus) was the male and female Titans: Oceanus, Iapetus, Coeus, Creius, Hyperion, Cronus, Theia, Rhea, Mnemosyne, Themis, Phoebe, and Tethys; they were the Cyclops Sterops, Brontes, and Arges, Gigantic beings with a single round eye in the foreheads and names denoting lightning, thunder, and brightness

Psyche & Eros

Clearly, Aphroditte was jealous on Psyche for her beauty and lots of people appreaciate her beuty other than Aphroditte. Aphroditte is sending his son Eros to give a poison on his arrow as a revenge but Eros did not make it because he fell inlove. But then parents of Psyche decided to have her a husband and it was a hideous husband who is afraid to show his face to her because of he is son of Aphroditte.

Photogram blog post 6

What is the most successful and why?
Among the different kinds of layering, colour and using different kinds of objects. The most successful is the flower with a white flower because it's a very unique technique to do by using a separate photogram and cutting them to overlay into 1 photogram by scanning it again so the result will look like 1 photo with overlay.

What were you trying to achieve when you created these?
What I was trying to achieve was to portray the contrast of different compositions with the flower and different objects to choose which one.

What are your next steps?

My next step would be to create more ideas and make them more lovely and meaningful.

Ancient and Modern hero

Is the definition of a Modern hero similar to that of a classical hero, or is it different? They may be similar in certain aspects, but they also have distinctions. An ancient or historical hero is referred to as a classical hero. A superhero, such as Superman, is an example of one. A contemporary hero is unselfish in a positive sense and puts others before themselves. A person who would devote their life to defend another is an example of one of these. Classical and Modern heroes share some characteristics, but they are also different.

Despite how unlike they appear, Classical and Modern heroes share certain striking parallels that are impossible to overlook. Both sorts are pretty courageous.

Greek Vase ( Visual )

In classics, we have been learning about olympian myths. I have turned my focus on the Greek god Aphrodite. Aphrodite is the ancient Greek goddess of sexual love and beauty, identified with Venus by the Romans. She was known primarily as a goddess of love and fertility and occasionally presided over the marriage.

Here is my Greek vase that I started last week and drew on my iPad. I added some effect on the vase. In this drawing basically, Aphrodite is riding a swan with love.

Creating a contact sheet

For the past few weeks, we been continuously working on our blogs. So for now I'm working on creating my first contact sheet. To create or start an idea.

All of the photos that I took has the technique of close-up and long shot.
It also has a lot of colour contrast eg: warm, has too much exposure and is orange in colour.

What is working well? What worked well is that each of these photos has similar bright lighting and red lighting. But for my future mood board, I will be using bright lighting as my artist is Rinko Kawauchi.

What can be done better?
What can be done better is by focusing on one lighting so it doesn't get mixed up.

For my mood board, I will still need to take more pictures. My contact sheet is only in draft 1 at this point.

Mood board draft one ( Art )

Here's the first draft that I made so far I'm not quite sure what colour palette I'm gonna be using but for now I'm gonna be using this palette

Also here's the first board draft that I made

So the first picture at the top, I'll be using that as a reference to the board I'm gonna do and I'll be deciding whether I coloured it to B&W or with a coloured and it's from Mark Adams.
The pictures underneath, it's a coloured photo and also they are from William Eggleston and Rinko Kawachi. I took some photos of what I'm doing on my board so which is Location-place with flowers.

For the last 2 dead flowers.

First photoshoot ( Art )

For the past week, I started to take some photos and get some ideas.

Here are the images that I took

SHUTTER SPEED - MOTION BLUR

DEPTH OF FIELD - NARROW (APERTURE CONTROL)
SHUTTER SPEED - CAPTURE MOTION STILL
                           LENS FLARE
LEADING LINES

MACRO (CLOSE-UP) DIFFERENT FRAMING DEVICES

These are the photos that I took it's not completed yet.

Here is the checklist of my photography techniques.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Fhes8U1AiZtEDpvDGfVA5Uqd3x-za12j/edit

On that day I didn't reach 100 photos but I added some photos when I took home the camera and started to take more photos as I am planning to create different kinds of shots.

L3 Art Matrix

 Brainstorm

- Environment

- Lighting

- Focus ( Main subject )

- Location place

The theme I chose is the location-place, sense of place because of what artist I chose and what they took.  Also, the compositions of the lighting were made by 3 different photographers and by the 3 photographers have different focuses or the main subject to take a photo.
