Aim:
To investigate the solubility of Calcium Chloride and Magnesium oxide to see which is the most soluble in water.
Equipment:
- A 250ml beaker
- 100ml measuring cylinder
- Calcium chloride
- Magnesium oxide
- A stirring rod
- A teaspoon
- A ruler
Method:
1. Fill the beaker with 100ml of tap water
2. Add a level teaspoon of Calcium chloride. A level teaspoon is obtained by running your ruler across the edges of the teaspoon.
3. Stir the solution until all of the Calcium chlorides has dissolved.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until no more calcium chloride will dissolve into the solution.
5. Record how many teaspoons of calcium chloride were added.
6. Repeat the expirement, with the magnesium oxide.
